The series Serum includes images of ingestion, drugs and mutation – among other things. Several of the subjects are inanimate objects treated as if they contain potential life. The image Drink (shown below), includes the character from the environment and video Airlock, of the previous year. The image Smoke is an example of the endurance tests that occur occasionally in Charlesworth's work. In this case, it is an attempt to smoke while mostly underwater.
